Nice house, but it’s a shame about the… events…

Back when we were shopping for houses, I noticed that our realtor’s listing service had an RSS feed, so I added it to Google Reader. Two years (and a home purchase) later, I still haven’t removed it—partly out of laziness, partly because it’s interesting to look at other people’s houses—and they still haven’t disabled my login, so I generally check the listings out.

A new listing popped up today. While the house itself seems perfectly pleasant, there’s something about this picture of one of the upstairs rooms that really just says “And here is the room where the ritual killings occurred…”

Maybe it’s the way the light shines through the window at one end of the room, maybe it’s the sloped ceilings. Or maybe it’s the obviously new carpet and paint-job, with no furniture or personal belongings of any kind.
